I've been having a rough time at work lately. Of course I can't go into too many details, but you know what really sours my milk? When I bust my behind off having my patient's best interest at heart, literarily put my life in jeopardy for them and their safety, and then have their family member not acknowledge any of that, but instead make a huge deal about some small trivial thing. As much as I try to not let it bother me, that ungratefulness bitters my heart you guys.
Giada is becoming such a 'big' kid. It's unbelievable how much this child knows and understands. I mean, I can actually have somewhat of a conversation with her. And even though she has such a good handle on her "selective understanding," which drives me batty by the way, I love hanging out with this chick. She melts me. Plain and simple.

This week we had some good friends tell us that they've lost their pregnancy at 9 weeks after going through 4 tough years of fertility treatments. Heartbreaking doesn't even begin to describe the sorrow in their hearts. I may never know why God chooses to allow such things to happen, but this is what I do know; He sees every tear, feels every hurt, and has the power to heal every broken heart. He promises to be with us through the storm, and I pray that I can be as strong as those people have been when and if my foundation is being shaken.
I've got it in my stubborn head that my girl is ready to be potty trained at 15 months. Before you laugh right in my face, let me tell you that I went through the 'is she ready?' list, and she has passed the test. What's even more crazy, I decided to do the 3 day training by myself. Now that's crazy talk, and I should have known it before I jumped head first into this heavy commitment.
Let's just say that I'm on day two, and am losing this battle by a long shot. I know that part of it has to do with me not following the rule of letting her run around naked. But I'm not really into all that nudity stuff. Which means that she tricks me every time. Did I say this girl was smart? I know she knows what the potty is for because she's used it before, and she tells me what she's supposed to do in there. She just chooses when she knows or not. For the most part, she pretends that it's her reading chair, or the place where she can fool mom into letting her watch Olivia.
She even grabs my hand, takes me to the potty, says "Mama pee-pee".... and then hands me the remote. Oh, and doesn't even pee in the potty! Instead she'll do it 2 minutes after she gets up from it. Oh Lo' this child! Mark my words: This is my 'grey hair' year.

So so sorry to hear about your friends loss, nothing is more heartbreaking and I'll be saying a prayer for them! Potty training is definitely a challenge to say the least! Just be careful about training too early, I was warned that sometimes they can revert and you will have to do it all over again....then again my MIL swears my hubs was trained at 18 months :)
1. Don't let those jerks steal your joy at work!
2. I want that cheesecake recipe stat! It looks soooo good.
3. So sorry about the loss of your friends pregnancy. I'll pray for her.
4. Potty training can be very stressful. Very!
Lots of love to you! Have a fab weekend! XOXO
Keep your head up at work! So sad to hear about your friends's loss :( Keep praying for them.....
That Giada, smart little girl!! Have fun with that!! LOL
I can't even think about trying to potty train Nolan...you girl are a brave soul :) I do love all the pics of her on the potty though! Sorry to hear about your friend...I know this must be very hard and devastating :(
So sorry to hear about your friends, that is just awful. Will say a prayer for them. That cheesecake looks so good, you must share the recipe!
As for potty training, I have to say, letting them run naked is key. That's how Q learned anyway, and he was potty trained by 2 years. They say girls are easier, though! Try it and see if she catches on, but if not don't push it and then pick it back up in a few months. I don't think Sprig is anywhere near ready. Although, she does take her diaper off all.the.time. And gets really annoyed when she pees all down her leg. HA!
Seriously, have I mentioned how much I missed her face? She is SOOOO cute sitting on the potty with her little phone. Those will be memories for sure someday. Can I steal your daughter pretty please?!
One day, she'll KILL you for that front shot of her on the pot! But good luck sticking to it...you're so brave :) And I hope work gets better! Hospitals tend to bring out the worst in people, don't they? :(
So sorry to hear about your friends. How devastating!!
I love you gave her your phone to kill the time. haha
My sister when training her boy, had him sit on the potty, in the living room, in front of the tv...for who knows how long to get him to go. It was awhile.
Any way, may the force be with you, my child. In good time, that child will go. (yoda)
Have a great weekend. OH MY GOSH!! thank you for dumping your captcha. You're the bestest EVER!!!

Those pictures are SOO funny!! LOL. what is she watching?
I know im not potty training but she does go on the potty..She wasnt going for a few days ON THE potty, so I took the suggestions from some friends and got POTTY books...they seem to be workign!! SHe looks at pictures of kids using the potty WHILE on the potty. Those books stay in the bathroom with the potty...so far its working!
Those pictures make me laugh! So freaking cuuuuute! And girl, I know exactly what you mean about the patients families being ungrateful. Very frustrating!
And I forgot to tell you I'm now loving the fact that there is no captcha! :)
i just want to say thank you for being a caregiver. nurses have a hard job. thank you for what you do! and yeah, i'm telling you, the potty training didn't work for my hunter until we did the naked thing for four days straight. it's a pain, but worth it in the end.
Best of luck with the potty adventures! That last pic is the cutest thing hahaha!
I'm sorry you've been having a rough time of it... watching friends go through fertility issue and loss is hard... i've definitely seen a lot of it. And working with people in healthcare is always a challenge for sure! Good luck with the potty training... my sister had a really tough time with my niece but then all of a sudden my niece decided it was time and it happened all in one day. :)
Potty training can be so stressful! But looking back, I wish I hadn't let myself worry so much or push so much because when my daughter was ready, she was ready and it happened. And all those times of us being locked in the bathroom and me wanting to pull my hair out seemed pointless.
Potty training already?!?! Landon is like, the furthest thing away from ready, ha ha. I'll be so impressed if it actually works. And even if it doesn't, the pics you got are beyond cute, so worth the try :)
Potty training ... loved those days!
Such a joy to stumble on your blog. I hope you don't mind if I splash around a bit, as this looks like a beautiful place to dip into all things full of goodness.

What a beautiful little lady. Cheesecake looks amazing. Loving your blog. Newest follower!
I will say it until I'm blue in the face...your girl CANNOT get any cuter!! How do you ever get anything done around the house with that sweet girl distracting you??
So sorry about your friends, and work...two things to really put a damper on your days!!
As for the potty training thing, we haven't even CONSIDERED starting Krew...he only passes maybe one of the items on the "ready" list. On the other hand, my mom said that I was potty trained day and night by the time I turned two. So it's definitely possible - but I have no idea what MAKES it possible. :)
I TOTALLY know what you mean about the difficuilt patients! UGH! me too! AND I can't believe your little one on the potty. mine just started too:) I don't want to rush you but I just want to make sure I sent you those interview questions cause I'm loosing my mind most of the time!! HA! I just ran my first 1/2 marathin and am running a full in 7 weeks ACK!!!
so sorry to hear about your friends losing their baby, so awful.
i tried to potty train alex at 15 months, but he was not ready at all. he is still not fully trained at 4 1/2. lol :)
sorry about your work struggles--so rough when you are doing so much service. What in the world? G is going for the potty!! i love it! she is so cute and spunky! and again--so sad for your friend--such a tough thing--good to have a great friend like you!
HAHA. I know, it's not funny, but she is so sneaky and smart! "mama, pee-pee" with the remote. Babies are so clever :)
Working in high stress fields can be so demanding of all our emotions sometimes, can't they. Darn people make drama wherever they can.
So very sorry to hear about your dear friends. Can't even fathom what they are going through.
One thing is for sure about strong-willed children...they know what they want:)
